Bread for the World

Social Justice Reach-out to Congress

Bread for the World churches communicate with members of Congress through letters, email, phone calls and personal visits. Throughout the year, Bread provides information, resources and updates on non-partisan issues important to hungry people. Each year, Bread invites churches to take up an Offering of Letters to Congress on an issue important to hungry people.

Bread for the World works for policies and actions that make the world a better place for its poorest inhabitants. This year Bread is advocating to enacting reforms in U.S. foreign assistance to make greater strides for our country to reduce global hunger in developing countries. Please give a prayerful thought in joining many of the faithful in Supporting Bread for the World’s offering of letter campaign.

Please click on www.bread.org/OL for the most recent campaign updates, sample letters and resources for further education and action.

Attached is an insert where you will find a sample letter so you can send this to our members of congress. Also attached is a Congressional member list to provide you with the names and addresses of those Congressional members whom you can contact.

It is critical that members of Congress receive as many letters as early in the year as possible. Senators and representatives grapple with many issues, but moved by God’s grace we can persist in urging our decision makers to take positive steps to improve the lives of impoverished and hungry people.
