ST. LUKE

FEAST DAY. October 18th

Because he was a physician himself, St. Luke is the patron saint of physicians. He was a friend of St. Paul, and is author of the third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles. According to tradition, St. Luke died in Greece at the age of 84. In art, he is represented by ox because his gospel begins with the account of the priest Zechariah sacrificing in the temple.
